The Big Easy Restaurant

Stellenbosch is almost synonymous with good wine and it's no surprise that this famous university town is where Ernie Els has chosen to open his brand new restaurant, The Big Easy, named after the man himself.

Nestled among the quirky architecture on South Africa's second oldest road, the oak tree-lined Dorp Street, once the ‘wagon road to the Cape', La Gratitude is a beautiful, 16th century Cape Dutch building. Built by Dr. Meendt Borcherds it is possibly the best known building on Dorp Street due partly to its perfectly proportioned facade with its classical gable giving the building perfect proportions and elegance.

As you'd expect, The Big Easy will place the utmost importance on serving great food and fantastic wine. There will be a distinctly French influence and the emphasis is on using the finest, freshest ingredients to produce world-class food in this historic setting. The personally selected wines will compliment the menu.

The Big Easy will open in September 2008. Keep checking back here for updates.
