Callaway fundraiser for Autism Speaks

- Callaway Golf FT-iQ set for Longest Ever Drive Charity Competition at St Andrews
- New Driver set to raise thousands for Autism Speaks at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship

Chessington, September 29th 2008 – Callaway Golf is aiming to go the extra mile and raise thousands of pounds for charity with the “FTiQ Longest Ever Drive Competition’ at St Andrews. To coincide with the launch of the FT-iQ Driver, Callaway Golf’s longest and straightest ever driver produced, competitors at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship will have the opportunity to tee it up at the 18th hole during their practice rounds, knowing that every yard they hit the ball will raise money for Autism Speaks, a charity close to the heart of Callaway Golf Staff Professional Ernie Els and his family.

While amateurs will have the opportunity to hit their drives with an FT-iQ, experiencing its unparalleled distance and accuracy, the drives of Callaway Golf and professionals sponsored by other manufacturers will also count towards the total distance.

Callaway Golf has pledged to contribute a minimum of £3,000 for a total of 10,000 yards driven over the course of three days, and up to £30,000 for 80,000 yards.

If raising money for charity wasn’t incentive enough, male and female amateurs will also have the opportunity to win an FT-iQ for the longest individual drives.

Jeff Dodds, Callaway Golf’s Marketing Director, said: “The FT-iQ is the longest and straightest driver Callaway Golf has ever produced so I’m anticipating there will be a lot of money raised for Autism Speaks, a charity which works extremely hard to help those affected by the condition.”

“Every donation given to Autism Speaks through this unique initiative will take us closer to understanding the causes of autism and help us improve the quality of life for those affected and their families, by seeking truly effective treatments and interventions” said Lynn Hart, Head of Events Autism Speaks.

The FT-iQ, an evolution of Callaway Golf’s first square driver, employs similar materials as next generation military aircraft and the latest, lightweight supercars. Carbon composite, titanium, aerospace grade aluminium are combined for their light weight, strength and durability.  The futuristic, stealthy head shape, benefits from a stretched face providing a larger effective hitting area and also inspires confidence at address.

The FT-iQ Driver will be available at retail stores from mid October 2008.
