Ernie’s Management
Ernie Els announced on September 16, 2011 that he is consolidating his management support for his professional playing activities to his new head offices in Jupiter, Florida. Hall of Fame Inductee and three-time major winner, Els, 41, had been with the UK-based International Sports Management (ISM) led by Chubby Chandler since 2004.
With more time in the US and the opening of his new offices last year, Els stated, "I just feel like it's the right time to make this move. After so many years based in the UK and travelling the world golf circuit since turning pro, it is nice now to consolidate our activities in one place. I want to thank Chubby and all the ISM team for our time together and am proud to have been associated with one of the most talented stables in world golf, including my fellow major winners; Oosthuizen, Schwartzel, McIlroy and Clarke as well as the current World No.2 player Lee Westwood. I wish him and all the guys great continued success".
Chandler concludes, "It has been a privilege to work alongside one of golf's global superstars for the last seven years. Everybody at ISM wishes Ernie and his team all the very best for the future on and off the course".
On September 23 Ernie then announced that he had appointed the recently formed sports management group ProsInc for management and marketing representation. ProsInc is headed by well-known amateur golfers Vinny Giles and Buddy Marucci, as well as former ProsInc head Giff Breed.
In a joint statement the principals of ProsInc were quick to say " We are privileged to announce that our first official client is Ernie Els, a man so well respected throughout the world. Ernie's confidence in us gives us great pride and, at the same time, challenges us to exceed his expectations. This is a positive and exciting way to begin the rebirth of ProsInc, originally founded in 1973. It is our goal to surround ourselves not only with great players, but more importantly quality individuals. Ernie Els certainly is a great example of both".
Els said "I have known Buddy and Vinny for a long time. Not only does Vinny have one of the great records in amateur golf he also has a very successful 30-year plus record in sports management. Buddy's credentials in the golf world are well known as is his success as a businessman and leader. I am excited to have them and their team representing me. My goal of having my business team nearby is now complete."
