Branden Grace wins back-to-back on European Tour

Former Ernie Els & Fancourt Foundation (EEFF) member Branden Grace has become the first player since Fred Couples in 1995 to follow his first European Tour win with another after his victory at the Volvo Golf Champions. In a stunning week for South African golf, Grace beat two of his heroes Ernie Els and Retief Goosen in a play-off. The previous week Grace had won the Joburg Open. Amazingly, he had only just secured his Tour card in the previous month's Q School in Spain.

Branden was a member of the EEFF in 2006 and was an outstanding amateur. "He was our best golfer at that stage," commented the Foundation's Chief Executive Hannes van Niekerk. "He always showed an intense love and commitment for the game. He had the talent and I knew that if he kept on working at his game he should win on the big stage one day. He's proved that the last two weekends and especially in the Volvo with some outstanding play on a tough course like The Links at Fancourt."

"I am very proud of him," said Ernie Els. "This is an outstanding start to the year for the Ernie Els & Fancourt Foundation. First it was Louis winning the Africa Open and now it is Brendan winning in the Volvo Champions. I can't ask for more. It is great to see that former members of the Foundation are doing so well. One of the focuses at the Foundation is to produce champions and it gives me great pleasure to see them win. These performances will definitely motivate our current members. Louis and Branden can be very proud of themselves."
